Room Refresh - The Play Room!
Rena Lenari of The Jazz Up, wraps up her advise with one of our favorite spaces in the series.
A Play Room is one of those spaces where you've got a lot of freedom. Let's be honest, it's going to get messy everyday. So, it should be simple and easy to tidy up or at least not too cluttered when it's a mess. Decorative baskets, bins and even this canvas tent are places where you can tuck away clutter when play is done.
In my opinion, a play space is best when it works for all ages. Parents or older siblings may appreciate a quiet nook to retreat to while younger kids play nearby. We anchored this area with an existing Nugget couch and brought in new-to-us art and pillows to make the space super inviting.
At the end of the day, even a play room can be nicely decorated. Remember to look at the objects as a whole family—they'll have a connection where one thing supports the other in its form, function, or both. Decorating with that in mind, even in a space as free-form as a play room, gives us a feeling of harmony.
And with that, we bid farewell to our decorating series. We hope you've enjoyed seeing these rooms unfold—I know we have! Here's a recap of the magic you can create with free!
Thank you so much for following along with us. Like what you've seen, but still feel like, 'I can't do this on my own!' be sure to get on Rena's schedule! She's truly a dream.

Spotlight on: Mimi's Zero Waste Pantry in Seattle!!
Freeya has partnered with Mimi’s Zero Waste Market in Seattle to bring you a variety of — free kits available in the app — to reduce waste in your home. This week it’s the ZERO WASTE PANTRY — MOVIE NIGHT with popcorn recipes for movie night.
Mimi’s Zero Waste Market is giving away another ZERO WASTE PANTRY KIT with beautiful tri-colored popcorn, along with two toppings for you to try in reusable containers to add to your zero waste pantry: one, medium wide mouth mason jar and two tall spice jars.
Don’t have a popcorn maker?—set up an alert on Freeya!! But until that turns up, here's a little recipe for creating a snack on your own!
- Pop kernels on a stove top in olive or coconut oil — in a thick bottomed sauce pan on medium heat add a few kernels, when they pop add 1/3 cup of kernels. Cover with a lid and remove from heat for 30 seconds. Return to heat — once you hear that popping sound — shake it! When the popping slows, remove from heat, shake on your favorite toppings and enjoy!
- Feel like living on the edge? We hear you can also make your own microwave popcorn in a brown paper bag! Nuke kernels for 2 1/2 minutes and recycle or compost the bag after you’re done using It. CAUTION: This is not a Freeya vetted method.
What version are we on?!
- iOS 1.1.1 and Android 1.0.9 (you're gonna want to get in on this version!)
